Collages

Improvisations developed from college years onwards, these pieces combine poetic associations of photographs, printed matter, tickets, labels etc, with ink and acrylic paints on watercolour paper or card. They reflect personal memorials, journeys to sacred sites, emotional memories and responses to other artworks, especially films and books. Recent work has  involved a palimpsest of mobile forms, beginning with a fragment of patterned matter or blurred garden photographs, resolving into a completely new form. The imagery is arrived at through change, suggestion, growth and mutation, with the subject or idea directing the visual resolution.
