Drawings

Made with textured handmade paper and inks, using only large Chinese or Japanese brushes with no pencil or pen marks, these drawings are improvised by feel, either with an idea of figures, movement, light or plant forms. They are conceived and made quickly in sessions, with as little premeditation as instinct allows. Only the very few most complete, or striking, or balanced images are kept after later deliberations. Similar rhythmic strokes are found in close observation of the watercolours, pastels and collages.
